Summary
Welcome to Home Automation Check, a site designed to help individuals navigate the complex ecosystem of smart home devices. Specifically, which devices are compatible with either a voice-assisted hub to an accessory, and if both components have the technology to communicate with each other or if they require a mediary hardware device to connect, otherwise known as a bridge.
For example, an Amazon Echo Dot is a voice-assisted hub that contains the interface Amazon Alexa. This interface technology allows for voice commands to answer questions and process requests such as getting the weather or setting the time. Another powerful feature these technologies enable is the ability to control smart home devices. Now the voice assisted commands can enable sci-fi level commands such as turning the lights on in a special color at a specific time at night, setting the thermostat from your bedroom, or locking and unlocking the door, hands-free!
There are many features these combinations of technologies provide. But with the ever increasing smart home technologies adding to the market, so do the complexities. And with added complexity comes time to ensure compatibility to each other, as well as room for error. Can you imagine spending hundreds of dollars on a complete smart home with lighting, speakers, door locks, thermostats, security systems, and more, only to find out some if not most of them don’t work? Well, that’s exactly what Home Automation Check was created to solve!
We are currently in the beginnings of the site. In the future, we will continue to add features such as more devices, user forums (but no meanies now) and video how-to’s showing how to connect devices as well as all kinds of fun things you can do that you may never knew you could. In the meantime, we hope this site makes your smart home journey easier and look forward to having you make the home of your dreams!
